Truffle Hunts

Truffle Melbourne partnered with our favourite Victorian truffieres to host hunts on most weekends throughout the winter truffle season. Whether rain, hail or shine, guests rugged up and pulled on their gumboots to enjoy a genuine bucket list experience- joining the truffle hunter and their working truffle dogs on a stroll through the truffle patch.

At Red Hill Truffles in the Mornington Peninsula, Jenny provided an informative discussion while her springer spaniel Thomas showed off his truffle hunting skills, before guests returned to the pavilion’s open fire to enjoy tasting dishes with truffle. Some hunts also included a short journey to the award winning Max’s Restaurant at Red Hill to feast on a two or five course truffle inspired lunch with matching wines from Red Hill Estate.

The Central Highlands’ Black Cat Truffles hosted regular hunts, with truffle dogs Ella and Harry leading the way before guests returned to the truffieres’ tasting rooms to warm up and sample a selection of truffle treats, along with local chefs who hosted regular classes where participants learnt how to cook simple dishes.

In Victoria’s Daylesford Region, Truffle Treasures’ Unravel the Mystery Tours provided an opportunity to experience the thrill of the hunt led by working dogs Abbie and Holly, and the sight, texture, aroma and taste of the black winter truffle first hand.
