Truffle Paddock

In 2017 we produced some beautifully aromatic fresh Black Winter Truffle at Truffle Paddock- our farm in South-West Gippsland - we’re now truffle growers, and no longer ‘just orchardists’!  It’s a great feeling of accomplishment.

As soon as the fresh truffle season finished in early September, it was time to get busy in the paddock. Spring and early summer is the time for pruning, mowing, weeding, re-inoculating some trees and testing and running the irrigation system, ready for summer.  Here are 3 videos showing our approach to pruning the oak tree (Quercus ilex)  host trees on our farm. Despite the recent early summer heat waves we’ve had, the signs are already positive for a good 2018 harvest – with lots of good brules in the paddock.
