Rural Spain

While the conference hall presentations were engaging, the field trip on the Thursday was much anticipated. There’s no doubt we’re in rural Spain! The one day field trip on Thursday took us south from Teruel to Sarrion, the home of a number of companies operating tree nurseries and a wonderful truffle processing plant – run by Manjares De La Tierra. But on the way, first a truffle hunt, with the local media all excited about the conference:

Although it was toward the end of a relatively poor truffle season, the little Manjares factory was going full tilt, washing, grading and then processing fresh truffle into a range of different value added products. The conference organisation was fantastic, with skilled translations into English, French and Spanish.
