Big truffle auction
Weighing in at over 600 grams, this beautifully aromatic truffle from Stonebarn Truffles was the star of the metro weekend show. Spirited bidding in the room and by phone saw it go to Chef Teage Ezard for his new cellar door opening at Levantine Hills Estate for $1,300.
We’re more than half-way through the 2015 winter black truffle season – and what a great season it’s been so far! Our hunts mentioned in the New York Times, sell out dinners at Vue de monde and Grossi Florentino, 10,000 extra visitors to our Prahran Market pop up, the Australian launch of the latest truffle growers’ guide-book, and our metro weekend festival a great hit with our guests, exhibitors, chefs and friends.
And there’s still another month of truffle heaven to go!
AUGUST HUNTS & DINNERS
Bistro Vue’s “In Truffle We Trust Dinner” on 4th August is almost sold out as is Chef Philippe Mouchel’s Deja Vue Truffle Melbourne dinner on 18th August – our season ending truffle feast! Philippe’s created a marvellous menu for the night, and yes, it includes the famous chicken rotisserie, with farce of truffle, foie gras and brioche – just one of the 5 courses. TRUFFLE ADELAIDE: 6-9 AUGUST
We’re spreading truffle love to Adelaide with a 4 day pop-up at Adelaide Central Market. Truffle tastes and treats across the market, Adelaide’s best chefs on the Truffle Chef Stage and culminating in the best truffle feast Adelaide’s ever seen – the Grand Truffle Luncheon on 9 August.
The menu, designed by Hand Made Catering’s Exec Chef Stuart Oldfield, highlights the best of SA’s produce, showcasing the mighty truffle! Mumm Champagne & truffled canapés on arrival followed by 3 magnificent wine matched courses, and our special truffle ale as a finishing cleanser!
